Good George North Wharf

Good things come to those who wait, and for the people of Auckland's CBD the wait is over for a good excuse to nip out for a beer lunch, or just clock out early. Yesterday we officially opened our doors to our new home in Wynyard Quarter. We couldn't be happier with the look of the restaurant and the amount of people that turned up to check out Good George North Wharf....

Introducing our Black IPA

In most countries the colour black means sadness and loss but in New Zealand it’s more about patriotism and excitement (except in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007 - those years had a heap of sadness and loss). When we made this Black IPA we felt the pride swelling up inside us. You don’t need to sing the national anthem before drinking but when its finished feel free to hold your cup above your head like you’re the world champion....

Moo & Brew 2019

We realize there’s a need to pair our craft beer with food that’s equally considered, and produced with care and attention. There’s something natural about seeking a crafted dish to live up to your beer, and something even more natural about doing so with burgers. That being said, for the month of August, 24 bars and restaurants from Auckland to Riverton have put their hat in the ring for another Good George Moo & Brew competition. The criteria this year, think outside the box....

New Brew: Manuka Honey IPA

Always looking to sweeten things up here at Good George, we’ve taken our classic IPA, a beer that’s been on the lineup since the beginning, and given it a spin. Manuka Honey IPA went on tap last week, with mixed response towards this small batch experimental brew. The sweet spin on our IPA gave the beer a boost that complimented the light citrus hop aromas normally associated with the original recipe. On the nose were also notes of honey (obviously) and herbal aromas from the Manuka leaf....

Fog City IPA

We seem to make a habit here in Hamilton of ripping on our town’s reputation for it’s unique weather, quality citizens, and its unofficial motto as “NZ’s best city to leave”. But we also like to celebrate what makes it unique. As a tribute to the ominous fog that rolls through town this time of year, we’re excited to present our latest release, Fog City Hazy IPA....

Good George Going Green

Last week we attended the largest agricultural exhibition in the southern hemisphere, Fieldays. As the official beer supplier for another year we were glad to be back. However unlike previous years, we made a large effort to reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills as a result of this massive annual event which sees farmers, suppliers and everyone in between attend from around the world....

Meet our East Coast IPA

They seem to be all the rage now, New England IPA is the beer style of the future (and the past). Debuting at GABS last week, we’re now releasing our latest East Coast IPA to a bar and store near you. East Coast IPA is a nice hazy juice bomb of a beer. The beer is unfiltered to maintain hop flavour, which also makes it hazy and opaque, and will mean sediment build up in the bottom of squealer bottles. This is totally normal, and you just need to gently roll the squealer bottle on its side to ...

Farmer’s Beers battle at this year’s Fieldays

A North Island versus South Island battle will be waged at Fieldays this year in the bar, but it’s not the brawl you’d expect. As we are the Official Beer Supplier of Fieldays, we thought it would be fun to invite two farmers to our Hamilton brewery to help out with brewing their own versions of a lager, and then make the beers available to try at the agricultural event. Over two early mornings in May, Ken, a sheep and beef farmer from the Mackenzie High Country in the South Island, and Gaz,...
